Broncos drop contest against No. 1 Hutchinson Community College, 76-8

On Saturday afternoon, New Mexico Military Institute hosted No.1 Hutchinson Community College at Colt Field. Suffering a 76-8 loss, the Broncos dip to 1-1 while Hutchinson starts the season off 1-0. 

FIRST HALF

In the first 10 minutes of action, Hutchinson was able to find the end zone on three different occasions. Christian Johnson connected with Eddie McLaughlin from 14 yards out to take a 20-0 advantage with 2:51 remaining in the opening quarter.

Following a failed fourth down attempt with over 11 minutes in the half, Hutchinson found the end zone again to take a 27-point advantage. The Blue Dragons were able to stop the Broncos on multiple occasions as they ended the first half 27-0.

SECOND HALF

In the third quarter, Hutchinson scored six touchdowns. However the Broncos were able to find the end zone once as Jake South connected with Geramyah Porter from four yards out to cap off a 11-play, 70 yard drive. The third quarter ended with a 62-8 score line after Hutchinson recovered a fumble for a touchdown.

In the final 15 minutes, the visiting team found the end zone twice to make it a 76-8 final.
